2018年美國歌劇家協會大學生歌劇創作比賽

美國國家歌劇協會歌劇創作比賽旨在鼓勵和獎勵具備創新、高品質歌劇作品歌劇組織,如:A.小型專業歌劇公司;B.歌劇培訓專案,包括:學術機構、音樂學院、夏季歌劇培訓專案、歌劇推廣方案。
比賽旨在挖掘熱愛歌劇創作事業,並有志於潛心研究歌劇領域的團體組織。為歌劇領域的專業團體組織提供了展現團隊實力,擴大團隊知名度,綻放國際眼光的機會和平臺!來自不同國家的參賽選手、國際著名的資深評委,以及由美國國家歌劇協會主辦使該比賽成為國際中享有盛譽的比賽之一。

參賽要求:比賽僅面向高校學生開放,不限國籍;選手按照年齡段和參賽類別,劃分為以下組別:
歌劇組I:面向年齡在18至22歲間的本科生開放
歌劇組II:面向年齡在23歲及以上的研究生開放
音樂戲劇組:面向年齡在18至22歲間的本科生開放
備註:
1)所有晉級決賽的選手必須在比賽期間依然是學校的學生;
2)如果歌劇組中有混合年齡,則組委會按照該組的平均年齡,以及年齡較大選手的占比,來決定該組歸類為歌劇組I或者歌劇組II;
3)導演必須是美國歌劇協會的會員,並支付會費(如果導演攜5名及以上學生參賽,可享受折扣),每位學生參賽須支付學生註冊會費;
4)初賽和決賽的劇本不得重複,但是均必須符合各組別的參賽要求,詳見“曲目要求”;
5)初賽只作為決賽的預選賽,因此,初賽的作品可以從以前學期創作的作品中選擇,其中可以有涉及已畢業或者尚未上大學的歌手;如果選手晉級決賽後,須選擇一份不同的劇本參加決賽,且必須保證提交作品時,選手依然是學校的在校學生;
6)參賽初賽時,選手可以同時參加一個或者多個組別,同樣歌手也可以在多個劇本中演唱;然而,每位選手在每個組別中只有一個劇本可以晉級決賽;
7)如果校方在多個組別中提交多份報名表並晉級決賽,無論在劇本中學生的平均年齡,任何歌手均不得同時參加多個決賽的演出;
8)如果選手在校擔任教職工職責,其不具備參賽本屆比賽的資格。

曲目要求:
Repertoire
Operatic literature of all styles and periods is eligible for submission into both opera categories. Standard operetta literature, such as material by Gilbert & Sullivan, Friml, Lehár, Johann Strauss, and others, will be included in the appropriate opera division. Repertoire in the Musical Theatre division is restricted to singing in the traditional or “legit” style. Scenes which include heavy belting or pop-rock techniques will not be eligible. Repertoire which includes appropriate and healthy use of chest voice, however, is acceptable. As in the operatic divisions, the quality of singing and vocal technique will be strongly considered.
Definition of a Scene
A scene is defined as a portion of a larger, published work. Short operas, musicals, or complete works under 8 minutes in length are not eligible for the scenes competition. Composers are encouraged to submit new operas to the Chamber Opera Competition. All submitted scenes must be from a show which has already received a full production by a professional opera or musical theatre company or a university/college program.
Length of Scene
Suggested length of scenes submitted in both the Preliminary and Final Rounds is 6–8 minutes. Preliminary judges will stop reviewing submissions at the 8 minute mark. The timekeeper at the finals will stop any scene which surpasses 8 minutes, but no penalty will accrue. There is no minimum time requirement.
Set/Props/Costumes
Set pieces are limited to rehearsal blocks and convention hotel tables and chairs located in the meeting room in which the competition will take place. No other set pieces are to be utilized in the scene. Costumes and hand-held props are at the discretion of the director.
Performance Space
The committee will request the largest stage available at the hotel that is not less than a 24 feet x 18 feet platform.
Judging Criteria and Procedures
The scene will be judged on musical style and accuracy, diction, vocal quality, basic stagecraft, individual characterization and ensemble interaction, and creative use of set, props, and costumes based on the competition limitations.
Scenes that are not in the standard repertoire (new works) shall provide three copies of the music for judging purposes.

獎項設置:
組委會將於比賽結束後宣佈獲勝作曲家名單,並為各組別授予一等和二等獎;授予一等獎獲得者一份雕刻的牌匾,授予二等獎選手一份獲獎證書;所有決賽選手一份參與證書。
