組委會鼓勵所有年齡,表現水平和學習方式的學生申請;

Repertory: 1, 2 or 3 pianos, any style, up to 15 minutes
(See also Piano Ensemble 30-minute option below)
Any repertory (any style) for one, two or three pianos is allowed (however, a third piano is contingent on availability and space). Demonstrations of spontaneous improvisation are also encouraged.
Contestants may play as few or as many selections within the allowable time frame of 15 minutes maximum.
(Time limit exception: see Piano Ensemble option below.)
There is no minimum repertory requirement. Even one short selection could win one or more prizes.
A contestant may earn more than one prize. Students who perform as many stylistically varied selections as possible optimize their chances for winning prizes.
Judges (not students) determine for which prize or prizes a contestant’s repertory qualifies.
Prizes may not be awarded if it is determined that no student qualifies and/or performance quality is of an insufficiently high caliber. In the event that a prize category is not awarded, the judges may, at their discretion, award two prizes in another category.
It is not necessary to do all the movements of multi-movement pieces (e.g., sonatas & suites); individual movements are allowed.
Excerpts are generally not recommended (except, perhaps, in the “Tasteful Transcription/Arrangement” prize categories). If in doubt, it is best to contact Dr. Houle in advance.
Repeats (i.e., those indicated in scores as repeat signs) are discretionary, but strongly recommended if they are done to demonstrate appropriate variety, spontaneity and creativity.
Piano ensemble option: 30 minutes of repertory
A student may enroll for two adjudications and perform up to 30 minutes of repertory under the following conditions only:
One program (up to 15 minutes maximum) must consist entirely of solo repertory.
The other program (also up to 15 minutes) must consist entirely of ensemble repertory (4 or more hands for 1, 2 or 3 pianos, not including concertos, which are considered solo works).
The contestant playing on both programs must submit two separate online application forms (one listing solo repertory, the other listing ensemble pieces) as well as a double application fee to cover the cost of two adjudications.
All additional students (those playing on the ensemble program only) must also submit an application fee to qualify for any prizes; contingent on payment of these fees, prize money is shared equally by ensemblists. Depending on circumstances, application fees for students involved ONLY in ensemble performances might be at a reduced rate, at the discretion of Dr. Houle.
Students considering this option should contact Dr. Houle as far in advance as possible, for planning purposes.
Students who wish to perform both solo and ensemble repertory on ONE adjudication (maximum 15 minutes of playing time) should also consult with Dr. Houle as early as possible to work out the logistics of scheduling and applying. Some students might pay a reduced application fee (at the discretion of the director), especially if their involvement is minimal and only as ensemblists. However, those playing both solo and ensemble repertory should expect to pay the full application fee.
Call for Written Scores
Festival contestants are invited to submit one original composition in any style (max. 7 minutes duration) in fully notated form (Finale or Sibelius preferred, PDF export from other programs acceptable), for one of the following:
Solo piano
Piano ensemble – for one, two or three pianos (3rd piano contingent on space and availability), for no more than three performers
Piano & one other instrument (any range/style)
