Cheng Wai, Vivian 鄭慧

       獲選為二零零九年【香港十大傑出青年獎】的香港著名鋼琴家鄭慧,畢業於美國寇蒂斯音樂學院,並先後於美國耶魯大學及紐約州立大學取得音樂碩士及博士學位,她曾師隨凌遠、郭嘉特、鍾榮達、西摩.里根、克勞德.法蘭克、基.卡力素。與朗朗及李雲迪同屬史坦威藝術家

       鄭慧是【國際青年年】香港傑出青年演奏家大獎的得主,她亦在多個國際音樂比賽中獲獎。她的樂跡遍及世界各地,先後在紐約林肯中心、卡奈基音樂廳、華盛頓甘迺迪中心、丹麥蒂沃利演奏廳、加拿大班夫藝術中心、北京國家大劇院,上海大劇院、香港文化中心等演出。鄭慧又多次以獨奏家身份與多個樂團合作,包括莫斯科管弦樂團、丹麥奧登斯交響樂團、香港管弦樂團、香港中樂團等;與她合作過的指揮家包括古斯塔夫.邁耶、羅倫史密夫、黃大德、葉詠詩、鄭小瑛、麥家樂、胡詠言、閻惠昌等。曾與她同台演奏的國際音樂好手包括法國小提琴家杜美、傑出華人小提琴家呂思清、李傳韻、王崢嶸,以及大提琴家王健、朱亦兵等。

       目前她出任【中央音樂學院香港基金】主席,並任教於香港演藝學院、香港浸會大學及香港中文大學,更為多個亞洲及國際音樂比賽擔任評判。

Cheng Wai awarded Ten Outstanding Young Persons Award in 2009, is a renowned pianist in Hong Kong. Among the new generation of pianists, Cheng Wai is admired for her exquisite musicianship and consummate technical ability. Her all-round performance technique proved that she has achieved mastery of different schools of music. She interprets music with her personality, disclosing her talent exhaustively. She is definitely a music artist and has been praised as a poet in music field.

She graduated from the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts and obtained a bachelor’s degree from the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia. She later obtained her master’s degree and artist diploma in Yale University and obtained her doctoral degree from New York State University at Stony Brook. Her principal teachers include Ling Yuan, Gabriel Kwok, John Winther, Seymour Lipkin, Claude Frank, Gilbert Kalish. She is also a Steinway artist along with Lang Lang and Yundi Li.

Cheng Wai is a winner of the Hong Kong Young Music Performer Award of the International Year of Youth. She is an active recitalist with footsteps of her music everywhere, including Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, Kennedy Center in USA, National Centre for Performing Arts, Beijing Concert Hall, Shanghai Grand Theatre, Hong Kong Cultural Centre etc. She was featured as a soloist with many orchestras all over the world, including the Moscow Philharmonic, Hong Kong Philharmonic, Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra and Hong Kong Sinfonietta etc. The Conductors with whom she has collaborated include Gustave Meier, Lawrence Smith, Yip Wing-sie, Yan Hui Chang, Samuel Wong, Mak Ka-lok…etc.

She is now the chairlady of the Central Conservatory of Music (HK) Foundation, and currently teaching at The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, Hong Kong Baptist University and The Chinese University of Hong Kong, and has also adjudicated in numerous local and international competitions.
