Francesco Facini

Francesco Facini was born and lives in Lucca (Italy). He studied and graduated in singing at the Conservatorio Luigi Boccherini in Lucca and graduated in Pedagogy at the University of Florence. He also studied with the famous Maestro Ettore Campogalliani ( teacher of L. Pavarotti, M. Freni and R. Raimondi) in Mantova and he attended mastercourses at the MOZARTEUM in Salzburg with the great italian mezzosoprano Giulietta Simionato.
Francesco Facini made his debut at the “Festival dei Due Mondi di Spoleto” in the opera “The last Savage” by Giancarlo Menotti who was also the Director of the production.
He enjoys a successful career which has brought him first to the Stadttheater Luzern (Swisserland) where he sang many principal roles, like FIGARO in “Le Nozze di Figaro” , Rodolfo In “Sonnambula “ , Papageno in “Die Zauberfloete” and many other principal roles with colleagues like Ramon Vargas, led by the well known conductor Maestro Marcello Viotti.
He also sang the role of Figaro in “Nozze di Figaro” in Verona, Luzern, Basel, Hamburg, Frankfurt, Duesseldorf with colleagues like: Alan Titus, Simon Keenlyside, Alessandro Corbelli, Edith Mathis etc.
He has sung many other principal roles from Rossini’s and Mozart’s repertoires in many famous theaters and Festivals in Italy: Catania, Lucca, Pisa, Livorno, Florence, Milan, Verona, Palermo, Modena, Ravenna, Genova, Torino, Rome etc. and in other European theaters : London, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Hamburg, Frankfurt Berlin, Kaiserslautern, Hannover, Mannheim, Vienna, Garsington, Helsinki.
Francesco Facini is well known as a Rossini and Mozart singer but he has also sung principal roles in operas by Donizetti, Bellini and Verdi.He has also sung the role of Don Magnifico in Rossini’s “Cenerentola”, in Tel Aviv, led by Maestro Alberto Zedda and made his United States debut as Don Bartolo in“Il Barbiere di Siviglia” at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. led by Heinz Fricke and directed by Leon Major.
He took part in the last production of the famous director Giorgio Strehler, in Milan, singing Don Alfonso in “Così fan tutte”, followed by a long tour in Spain, Russia and in China(Beijing–Poly Theater)
Francesco Facini has sung at the Arena di Verona in the Role of ZUNIGA in Bizet’s “Carmen” led by Renato Palumbo and staged by Franco ZEFFIRELLI
(with Jose Carreras and Denis Graves), in the role of Marchese di Calatrava (Verdi’s Forza del Destino) led by Maurizio Arena ( with Leo Nucci, Gena Dimitrova, Salvatore Licitra) and in the role of Grande Sacerdote di Belo in Verdi’s “Nabucco “ led by Anton Guadagno.
For many years he was regular guest at the Teatro dell’Opera in Rome singing roles like Selim/Turco in Italia; Geronte/ Manon; Doktor/Wozzeck; Sagrestano and Angelotti /Tosca; Cloteau/Marie Victorie etc. often directed and conducted by Maestro Gianluigi Gelmetti and Franco Zeffirelli.At the Staatsoper Unter den Linden in Berlin he sang the role of Selim/Turco in Italia with the famous german sopran Christine Schaefer as Fiorilla.
