About the Event
Witness the opera directing debut of Guillaume Gallienne at the Paris Opera. The award-winning actor, writer, and director interprets Rossini’s ‘La Cenerentola’, with Marianne Crebassa in the title role.
Although it is essentially a comedy, or dramma giocoso, Rossini’s ‘La Cenerentola’ is an interpretation of Cinderella through the lens of the Enlightenment, stripped of fairy-tale magic and focused on the social issues of the composer’s time. The opera features some of Rossini’s strongest ensemble pieces, as well as the extravagant coloratura for which the composer was famous.
Sung in Italian, with French and English surtitles.
